Do you live in or near Abingdon?

You can find out more about Traidcraft by visiting www.traidcraft.co.uk Abingdon Traidcraft Group is made up of Members who live in Abingdon, who sell Traidcraft goods. We, like many other unpaid Traidcraft volunteers in all parts of the UK, buy stocks of Traidcraft products which we then sell. Apart from selling in churches, we organise special events, often in association with Christian Aid, and are willing to run Traidcraft stalls at other charitable events.
In 2007, our combined turnover was £25,414. We are, though, always ready to take new opportunities to increase our sales. At present, we sell at the following:-
In addition to these outlets, it is also possible to order on-line from this web site. Just click on the page 'What We Sell' to find out more.
Our Convenor is Chris Caddy. He is always interested to hear from people who want to buy fairly traded products. He would also be glad to know of any events locally where the organisers would like to include a Traidcraft stall. We can offer stocks on sale or return. Please get in touch with him at:-
Fairtrade is a means by which producers and growers, mostly in developing countries, can benefit from their work and earn a living which enables them to support themselves and their families in dignity. This means that they are paid a fair price, sometimes with a premium added to support development activities decided by them. They also benefit from long-term relationships with firms and organisations in the West, receive advance payments or credit, where needed, and assistance in developing their businesses and in introducing new products. All fair trade products are certified by the Fairtrade Foundation and carry this logo.
What is 'Traidcraft'?

Traidcraft plc is a company which was started in 1979 as a Christian response to poverty, by importing crafts, jewellery, paper, clothing, food, teas and coffee from the 'third world' on a fair trade basis. It works with organisations which explicitly aim to provide benefits to their workers, such as producer-controlled co-operatives, non-governmental organisations, community groups, or private businesses with a genuine commitment to their workers' welfare. These organisations may be of any or no particular faith. What is Abingdon Traidcraft Group?
How are we doing?
At our recent Sale, we sold craft products on behalf of PULA. The crafts, from Botswana, Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda and Uganda proved very popular. They would welcome inquiries from potential customers.
